Screenshot Workflow with Hazel

Hazel is a all-purpose file moving tool for the Mac. It can move and rename files based on rules for a given folder. But it can do a lot more. This is how I use Hazel to manage my screenshot workflow. I don’t like a bunch of files littering the desktop. This action sweeps them up and renames and resizes them for me. Folder setup Mac OS X saves all new screenshots to the Desktop.

Microsoft Pi

Is a BSOD without a sceen still a crash? I’ve been thinking about this for the last day or so. Is having Windows on an embedded board something the world needs? We’re excited to announce that we are expanding our Windows Developer Program for IoT by delivering a version of Windows 10 that supports Raspberry Pi 2. This release of Windows 10 will be free for the Maker community through the Windows Developer Program for IoT.

Writing Tools: Analog Edition

My usual kit. Most of my writing is done electronically. I have a combination of laptops, keyboards, and even keyboard computers. Even while those are my main source of input, they’re not always the first thing I turn to. When I need to get something down now I reach for old-fashioned pen and paper. There’s no boot up/wake from sleep time, and it doesn’t require a password start using.1 It’s also non-modal.

Word Count — Week 5

It’s time for my weekly word count check-in. At the end of every week, I post a screen shot from my writing results spreadsheet. This shows the current week and the three before. My week starts on Monday, the numbers are current through Sunday night. Overall, I’m seeing a downward trend, and need to reverse it. I spent some of my writing time reading this week. I finished two novels, and started picking apart the writing style for future reference.

Super Bowl XLIX Results

New England 28-24 Seattle The Patriots tried very hard to lose this game. They played small ball for the first three quarters. Then in the fourth quarter when the panic set in, they started to actually get some air under the ball. But… Russel Wilson had flashes of brilliance, but even a few big plays couldn’t save the Seahawks. The final fail at the goal line sealed their fate. The end zone brawl at the end was quite funny.

Super Sunday

I’ve never had much in the way of traditions with sports. Having Super Bowl XLIX as a home town game hasn’t really changed this. I’ve avoided going downtown to the festivities. The whole affair seems too managed. It’s also crowded and can get expensive. Anytime the tourists come to town, prices go up. I’m watching the game at home this year. I didn’t make any plans to go to a party or out to a bar.

Foggy Arizona

Once upon a foggy morning. I’m not really sure what’s going on with the weather. This is odd.

Flash fiction—At the Shop

“Look lady—“ I was furious, “Don’t look lady me! You’ve had my car all day you can’t say what’s making that damn noise?” The mechanic took a breath, “I’m saying I can’t duplicate it. I can’t fix something I can’t find.” I looked at him. He had a rag in his right hand and a flashlight in the left. His name patch said “Walt.” He eyed me carefully. I had the feeling he was trying to get me to leave.
